Bulwarra, the former Hunters Hill home of actor Cate Blanchett and her playwright husband Andrew Upton, is back up for sale.
Blanchett and Upton sold the North Parade home for $18 million at the start of 2017, the second time they secured a sale after a Chinese buyer backed out six months earlier.
They had paid $10 million in 2004 and spent $8 million on a three-year redesign, undertaken by architects Dr Stephen Lesiuk and Nadine Alwill.
For the last three years the home has been owned by the expat Katrina Chandler, the daughter of Hunter Valley cattle farmer Ken Chandler.
Chandler, now known as Katrina Barter, was based in London at the time of purchase with her investment banker husband Chris Barter. Barter co-founded the venture capital fund King River Capital which saw the family move to Sydney.
Chandler had been the chair of The Grove Charity back in London. The family are believed to be wanting to move closer to Mosman.
LJ Hooker Avnue agent Michael Coombs, who is offering the home for sale with a leasehold boatshed with slipway, has a guide of $20 million to $22 million.
It will unlikely be enough for Bulwarra to reset the peninsula record, set when Vailele, one of Sydney's most tightly held riverfront homes, was sold by the Salter family for $22.18 million in 2017.
The sandstone home has five bedrooms, including a master wing with ensuite and walk in wardrobe.
It features a central sculptural staircase and custom light, as well as polished concrete and American oak flooring.
A championship tennis court, heated swimming pool, spa, pavilion and self-contained guesthouse sit in the 3,640 sqm Will Dangar-designed gardens, which have direct river access.
Last month Blanchett secured the sale of her Sydney bolthole, in Macquarie Street's famed The Astor, after asking $12 million.
