Outgoing governor-general Sir Peter Cosgrove buys in Milsons Point

Sir Peter Cosgrove, who will step down as Australia's governor-general next month, and wife Lady Lynne Cosgrove, are downsizing in Sydney's north.

They will vacate the governor-general's official residence, Admiralty House on the Kirribilli waterfront, and will be moving in to a three bedroom apartment in Milsons Point.

Records show they paid $2.25 million for the 15th floor apartment in the Pinnacle building.

The apartment had sat idly on the market for around 50 days through Di Jones agent Nigel Mukhi, prompting the vendor to attempt the lease the investment apartment again at $1,500 a week before the Cosgrove's swooped.

The Pinnacle building was built in the late 1990s on Dind Street.

The Cosgrove's have called the lower north shore home for over a decade, having bought a Neutral Bay townhouse for $1.95 million in 2007.

They sold it for $2.1 million in 2014 given Peter's appointment as governor-general and the luxury of moving in to the 1840s Victorian sandstone Admiralty House.

The property on the tip of Kirribilli was built in 1842 by Lieutenant-Colonel John Gibbes. It was bought by the colonial government in 1885 and renamed Admiralty House.

Rabbitoh's legend Greg Inglis sells Coogee home after reducing price guide

The South Sydney Rabbitohs legend Greg Inglis has sold his former Coogee home having pulled it from auction and reduced its price hopes.

Buyers were being told they’d need to offer $2.5 million to secure the Federation semi after it was initially listed for auction on June 1 with a guide of $2.8 million.

The home sold within 29 days of its listing, well ahead of the current 50 day Sydney average on market time.

McGrath Coogee agent Marnie Seinor secured the sale but said she couldn’t disclose its sale price.

“It holds a prized corner parcel in a coveted Coogee street, just metres from buzzing cafes, shops and the beach,” she said.

“The immaculately kept Federation semi celebrates relaxed coastal living,” she added.

Inglis bought the home in early 2012 having made the moving the prior season from Melbourne where he played for the Storm.

Inglis paid $1.1 million for the Bream St property, when the median price was around $1.4 million.

Coogee, with a current $2.6 million median house price, has seen a compound growth rate of 8.5 percent for houses over the past five years.

It was just a two bedroom, 1910 built Federation, but now still behind a traditional facade, extended to now have four bedrooms and two bathrooms across its three levels.

Since its listing Inglis has struggled with personal issues after retiring earlier this year from rugby league following a stellar 14 year on field career.

The former South Sydney captain has been admitted to a mental health facility to deal with the issues he has been facing.

His close friends Justin Hodges recently encouraged Inglis to get his life back on track for the sake of his young family after seeing “the hurt in his eyes”.

“He’s doing it very tough. Everything hit him at once; his marriage break-up and then his retirement came quickly, quicker than what he expected.”

The 32-year-old, was living at Little Bay, having leased the 1910 Coogee home in recent times.

The Kempsey-born NRL star and his estranged wife Sally, who recently moved back to Queensland, own investment properties including a renovated 1920s workers cottage in Sandgate, northwest of Brisbane, which cost $440,000 in 2014.

Nova FM breakfast radio star Michael “Wippa” Wipfli and his wife Lisa have reduced the price guidance of their Queens Park home ahead of its auction next week.

They initially had $2.5 million hopes three weeks ago, however there’s now a $2.3 million price signalling.

That’s despite the common belief that prices had bottomed following the federal election.

The couple snapped up the home in 2014, paying $1.87 million just six days in to its marketing.

On a 160 square metre block on Rawson Avenue, the architect-designed home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Wippa sold in Melbourne’s Armadale in 2016 for $1,825,000.

Set near swish High Street, the home had cost $1.48 million in 2010, not long before Wipfli was transferred to Sydney.

The family are considering a move closer to schools for kids Theodore and Jack.

Wippa has been a household name since 2009 when he teamed up with Ryan Shelton and Katie “Monty” Dimond on Nova’s drive show.

In 2011 Wippa joined Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald.

Wife Lisa, whom he married in 2013, is co-owner of baby health food company Nourishing Bubs.

The Queens Park market has been active in the past few months.

The last 27 house sales had a $2.66 million median, according to realestate.com.au.

Film editor David Gross recently sold the Yenda Avenue home he bought with former partner, actor Brooke Satchwell, in 2010.

It was listed with $2.25 million hopes

Brad Cranfield and Lara Welham have finally sold the impressive Hunter Valley home they built after their 2012 The Block win.

The couple, now based in Byron Bay with their children, secured $1,375,000 for the Bishops Bridge estate which had been for sale for 200-plus days.

Cranfield and Welham bought the 25 hectare vacant estate in 2012 for $510,000 — after taking home $606,000 prize earnings when their Dorcas Street, South Melbourne terrace renovation fetched $1.62 million, $506,000 over reserve, on The Block.

The couple had reduced the Bishop Bridge asking price from its initial $1,599,000.

Cranfield, who was a fitter and machinist in the coal mining industry while Welham was a physical education teacher before the 2012 series, is now a real estate agent, saying the transition was a “natural progression”.

He works with Christian Sergiacomi, husband of The Block interior designer Shelley Craft.

The designer Bishops Bridge home, that sits at the end of a long drive, comes with 6 metre-high ceilings.

Its living room has a timber feature wall backing the wood-burning fire.

A loft-style rumpus room overlooks the living space.

Coloured cathedral glass panes have been used throughout the four-bedroom home.

A timber tiered deck looks across the grounds, which include a creek and three dams, one with a floating pontoon.

Westpac boss Brian Hartzer has spent $6.8 million to buy on Pittwater’s western shore.

Hartzer and wife Georgiana have bought a charming sandstone weekender at Elvina Bay with water views from its elevated wraparound veranda.

The home sits on more than 2000 square metres of north-facing gardens, with a boat shed on its 50 metres of water frontage, according to marketing by Lachlan Elder at LJ Hooker.

It last traded for $6.25 million in 2007 and was built in the 1920s for a retailing family.

Former Real Housewives Of Sydney star Krissy Marsh has finally sold her Double Bay apartment, which she called home during the one and only season of the Foxtel series.

It was pulled from its auction earlier this week, but has since gone under contract.

It had been on the market for almost six months, with price expectations dropping from $5 million to between $4.28 million to $4.38 million.

Marsh, who lives in Dover Heights, had signalled she wished to sell to buy a holiday home in Noosa.

Marsh paid $3.5 million for the three-bedroom, three-bathroom home in 2015.

Raine & Horne Double Bay agents Alex Lyons and Ric Serrao handled marketing of the Bay Street apartment, which was a $2850-a-week rental.

The 285 square metre unit comes with a combined formal lounge and dining area, as well as a separate media room.

All three of its bedrooms open to balconies. There is a full-width terrace flowing from the open-plan living area.

The show’s last episode aired 22 months ago.

Marsh briefly tried to sell the Dover Heights home she shares with husband John and their three kids in early 2017 when asking $8 million.

The Mackenzie Pronk-designed six-bedroom entertainer features interiors from Make Creative’s Antonia Pesenti.

The four-level home was rebuilt since it was bought for $1,975,000 in 2003, and now comes with a gym, cinema, heated plunge pool and a rooftop terrace.

The highest Double Bay apartment sale last year was away from the shopping village where philanthropic Kiwi businessman Sir Owen Glenn took $9 million for his Gladswood Gardens apartment on the Harbour.

The two-level, three-bedroom apartment sold through agent Sally Hampshire to horse racing enthusiast Steven Gregg, chairman of Caltex Australia and board member at Tabcorp.

There has also been a $10.5 million Cross Street off-the-plan penthouse sale in the 1788 project.

Hollywood actor Dan McPherson secures Cronulla tenants

$

Despite Hollywood success, Dan MacPherson retains strong links to the Sutherland Shire, where he secured tenants this month for his longtime Cronulla investment — a one-bedroom unit which was his first purchase in Australia.

MacPherson has owned it for 17 years, having paid $295,000 in 2002, about the time he left his Melbourne-based role as swim coach Joel Samuels in Neighbours for the UK, where he landed a role on cop drama The Bill.

Then-Cronulla teen MacPherson, who had planned on studying commerce at university, got his first TV role when discovered by an entertainment manager while competing in a triathlon in 1998.

A year later, he won the Most Popular New Talent Logie.

MacPherson was seeking $500-a-week tenants for the apartment, located at the south end of the beach just 100 metres from the sand. In 2007, the rental was $270 a week.

He briefly tried to sell the ground-floor Gerrale Street unit for $420,000 in 2007, about the time he took on a role on Seven’s City Homicide.

MacPherson was fortunate a buyer didn’t emerge after two months, as the median price for a one-bedder now sits at $575,000.

Its rental listing details suggest he’s not intending on selling anytime soon, as it was offered with a 12-month lease with the option of extending.

These days, MacPherson rents at Bondi with his wife, fellow actor Zoe Ventoura.

He also owns at Queensland’s Sunshine Beach, where he has a two-level timber bolthole with ocean views that cost $2.15 million in 2010.

When stateside, MacPherson and Ventoura reside at coastal Santa Monica, just west of Hollywood.

Ventoura has owned a two-bedroom apartment in South Coogee since paying $605,000 in 2006. It is a $620-a-week rental.

Former NAB chief of staff Rosemary Rogers and husband Anthony have put their Williamstown trophy home on listing websites with an accompanying official price guidance.

It was previously an off-market offering.

The couple are seemingly resigned to make a loss on the Power Street property that cost $3.8 million in late 2017.

It is now being marketed with a $3.5 million to $3.8 million price guide with offers due July 4.

The 1800s Victorian has four original era bedrooms and two bathrooms off an arched hallway at the front of the house.

The rear of the home has been architecturally renovated, featuring a modern open plan kitchen, a retreat, living room and third bathroom.

There's an indoor pool with its own climate controlled pavilion at the rear of the 1,010 square metre plot.

RT Edgar Inner West agent Joanne Royston has the listing.

Rogers, who was the chief of staff for former NAB boss Andrew Thorburn, was charged in March with 56 counts of being an agent corruptly receiving a benefit, and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.
