Socceroo star Tommy Oar has sold his Surfers Paradise investment apartment for $417,000.

It's been bought by Netherlands born, Liberal Party politician John-Paul Honoré Langbroek and his wife Stacey.

Set in a complex of 20 around 50 metres to the beach, the renovated two bedroom, two bathroom apartment cost Oar $360,000 in 2012.

Gold Coast Residential Properties agent Roger Haddad sold the home after asking for offers over $415,000.

It was advertised as offering rental returns between $480 and $520 a week which would give John-Paul and Stacey a yield over six percent.

Oar, who plays for the Brisbane Roar, maintains a Mermaid Beach home that cost $1.31 million in 2014. It had previously sold for $1.55 million in 2006.

In 2008 when he was just 17 Oar signed a three year deal with Brisbane Roar.

Two seasons later he signed with Dutch club FC Utrecht after being awarded the Rising Star award for the Best Young Player in the A-League.

He left for Holland with fellow Roar stars Michael Zullo and Adam Sarota.

Oar spent five years with Utrecht before spending a brief stint at English lower league club Ipswich Town before returning to Brisbane Roar in 2016.

His back-ended deal means he will become a marquee player next season.

He has made 28 appearances for the Socceroo's, scoring twice.
