One of Point Piper’s rare breed of original old homes, the 1890s Anaconda, has been sold for $21 million.
The beachfront property came with an initial asking price of $28 million with suggestions there might have been a $25 million sale.
It has been owned by the Page family since 1960 when the late legal luminary Brian Page of Freehill Hollingdale and Page bought it for 20,600 pounds for his three sons Michael, Charles and Roderick.
Set on about 1000 square metres of absolute beachfront with a north-facing aspect, the property was bought by David Shein who recently sold in Vaucluse.
The Shein family had been looking at the Wolseley Road house for some time after entrepreneur David Shein and his wife Colleen sold their two Vaucluse waterfront properties for around $60 million to the co-founder of Menulog Leon Kamenev.
Mr Shein is a former board member of the ailing Fairfax Media group and was the founder and former managing director of Dimension Data Australia before he became non-executive chairman of Montech Holdings.
Charles Page has bought in Double Bay, where he has bought a free-standing house for $3,675,000 from Bambini Imports director Rebecca Cohen.
