Landscape gardener Paul Bangay’s Vermont childhood home has been sold to a fellow landscaper.

Noel Jones, Mitcham, agent Michael Gurry said the buyer of 18 Malvern Street was a fan of Bangay’s work.

The 954sq m property’s garden was created by the renowned gardener and his mother who owned the property for 51 years.

Vermont holds fond memories for Bangay and he admits he’s sad his parents, Robert and Annette, are selling the family home.

“The nice thing is they’re moving close to me – downsizing to a smaller house in Woodend,” he said.

The four-bedroom house was sold having been listed with a $1.5-$1.6 million quoted range.

Tall hedges, courtyards, lawns and a gateway to Buckanbe Park were features of its green surrounds, The Herald Sun reported.

“This garden was the start of an amazing career for (Bangay),” Mr Gurry said when the property was first listed.

Three parties placed offers.
